About
The UTS Qualification Verification Service is an official online tool designed to allow employers, recruiters, and other authorised organisations to verify tertiary qualifications awarded to students by the University of Technology Sydney. This service helps confirm that a student or graduate has successfully completed a recognised award course at UTS.
Key Features:
- Verification Scope: The service enables verification of degrees and qualifications completed since 2004, including undergraduate and postgraduate level awards such as Certificate, Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor, Graduate Diploma/Certificate, Master, and Doctorate.
- Search Parameters: Verification can be performed by entering the student’s full name, student number (eight digits), and degree type.
- Limitations: The system does not display information on courses completed prior to 2004, short courses, partially completed studies, or degrees awarded at antecedent institutions.
- Fallback Process: If an online search does not return a result, a formal verification request can be submitted via email to <verifications@uts.edu.au>, including signed consent from the student authorising the disclosure of their academic records.
How the UTS Qualification Verification Service Supports Employment Background Screening
When conducting employment background screening, verifying educational credentials is a crucial step to confirm that candidates possess the qualifications they claim. UTS’s Qualification Verification Service supports this process by:
- Providing Reliable Academic Verification: Employers can independently authenticate that an applicant has completed a specific degree awarded by UTS, reducing the risk of fraudulent claims.
- Streamlining the Screening Process: The online tool allows quick and straightforward credential checks, saving time for recruiting teams.
- Ensuring Consent and Privacy Compliance: The service requires signed consent from the candidate before detailed academic verification, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and university policies.
- Supporting Employer Due Diligence: Verification of educational qualifications is often a mandatory requirement in regulated sectors. This service enables employers to meet these compliance obligations effectively.
By leveraging UTS’s Qualification Verification Service, employers gain confidence that their hiring decisions are based on verified academic credentials, bolstering recruitment integrity and workforce quality.
